Grading and Unit Requirements (CCS)

Courses taken in the College are to be reported in terms of Passed/No Record. The grade Passed shall be strictly reserved for work of satisfactory quality. Each student enrolled in a College of Creative Studies class is eligible to receive a grade of Passed which is awarded for work that meets the minimum criteria established for the course. Students receiving a grade of Passed in a CCS course will be awarded one to six units of credit for the course by the instructor based on satisfactory work equivalent to approximately, but not less than, one hour of direct instruction and two hours of out-of-class work per week per unit. Courses for which the grade of Passed is inappropriate are removed from the student's record.

Students must maintain a 2.0 grade-point average in courses taken for letter grades outside the College of Creative Studies and adhere to the University GPA policies.

Each unit of credit earned is counted toward graduation; 180 quarter-units of credit qualify the student to be evaluated for graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in the College of Creative Studies.
