The Letters and Science Program
Freshman and sophomore students who have not yet selected a major will be part of the Letters and Science Program. While they are in this program, they are encouraged to take courses in a variety of departments to help them to develop their interests and to learn about the range of academic opportunities available at UCSB. The College of Letters and Science, and many individual academic departments, offer special advising services to undeclared students to help them make sound academic decisions. To ensure their timely progress toward the degree, students are expected to declare a major by the time they have reached junior standing (completion of 90quarter-units). Those who do not meet this expectation will have their future registration blocked.
