This course retraces the history of our understanding of motivated behaviors, from the early psychological and neuroscientific studies to the modern day. We examine how coordinated activity within specific neural circuits mediates specific psychological components of motivation. Topics may include: consummatory behaviors, appetitive behaviors, pleasure, and decision-making.
