Course Description

This online course examines the science, policy, and politics of global climate change with an emphasis on the Global South, and a social science focus on equity and justice. Students will learn directly from expert faculty from across the UC system and beyond. In addition, students will engage with readings and multimedia content to deepen their understanding of the most pressing climate change issues and solutions. Students will be evaluated through a variety of written products (review questions, journal responses, and a final paper) in which they identify connections across seemingly disparate places. Students will gain knowledge and skills needed to identify the larger system changes needed to adequately address the climate crisis.
