Program Description

The School Psychology Ph.D. program espouses a scientist-practitioner model for doctoral-level training in health service psychology with an emphasis on developing the skills needed to conduct basic and applied research that informs school psychology best practices. Doctoral school psychology students learn how to effectively deliver evidence-supported psychological services within schools by directly engaging in the role of school psychologists and developing the clinical skills needed to be a highly qualified practitioner as defined by state and national professional standards. This full-time, five-year training program culminates in conferral of the Pupil Personnel Services in School Psychology credential and authorization to provide psychological services within California public schools. Program graduates are also eligible to obtain licensure for independent practice as psychologists.
