Program Description
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography will provide you with a comprehensive and varied exposure to all topical areas of study and major scholarly and analytic approaches within the discipline of geography, the study of Earth as the home of humanity. These topical areas include the study of the biophysical Earth, including atmosphere and climate, oceans, soil and landforms, rivers and lakes, and plants and animals; of the human Earth, including mind, activity, culture, society, population, and economics; and of geographically-referenced information and techniques for applying it, including cartography, remote sensing, mathematical modeling and statistics, and geographic information systems (GIS). Of the degrees offered by the Geography Department, the B.A. degree is especially designed to allow you to sample broadly across the topical domains and approaches of geography, and to explore their integration.
