Overview

UC Santa Barbara’s Bren School of Environmental Science & Management offers interdisciplinary graduate programs in environmental problem solving. The Bren School offers two professional degree programs, Master of Environmental Science and Management (MESM), and Master of Environmental Data Science (MEDS), as well as the research-oriented Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Management.

The Bren School faculty comprises natural and social scientists, as well as experts in business, law, data science, and policy. Because environmental problems are by their nature multi-disciplinary, the programs place unique emphasis on collaboration and working across and between diverse fields to deliver action-oriented solutions.

Whether Bren students are working toward a MESM, MEDS, or Ph.D. degree, they are trained in a variety of disciplines, while developing technical and analytical skills essential to real-world application.
