Auditing Courses

During the regular academic year, currently enrolled students may audit a course (sit in unofficially) with the permission of the instructor. During summer sessions there are more formal procedures to follow, as described on the Summer Sessions website. Auditors are not expected to do assignments, take examinations, or participate in classroom discussion, and no record of the audited class appears on the student’s quarter schedule or UCSB transcript. Students will not be permitted to earn credit by examination in courses which they have audited.
