Course Description

This course examines the role of Latinx communities in shaping local, state, and national politics in the United States. It reviews contemporary modes of Latinx political organizing; examines the development of heterogeneous political ideologies among the prevalent subgroups; analyzes public policy issues surrounding citizenship and membership; evaluates the achievements and shortcomings of Latinx empowerment strategies; and it considers the electoral impact of Latinx voting outcomes.
