EEMB 101 - Genomics and Molecular Evolution

Ecology, Evolution & Marine Biology College of Letters and Science

Full Course Title

Genomics and Molecular Evolution

Instructor Name(s)

Yi

Course Description

Molecular evolution is a modern field of biology aiming to understand processes of evolution using molecular and genomic tools. This course provides basic concepts in molecular evolution including models of sequence evolution, genome evolution across the tree of life, concepts in molecular population genetics, molecular tests of natural selection, and regulatory evolution. These concepts are learned through the usage of classic examples of molecular evolution, as well as recent, timely studies (such as evolution of SARS-CoV2).
