Financial Aid

Students who need financial assistance to attend UCSB are encouraged to complete the financial aid application by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by the March 2nd Priority Deadline.  When considering the cost of a college education, tuition and fees are only part of the overall cost of attending a university. In addition to tuition and fees, there are also living expenses, such as food, living expenses, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

At UCSB, we want every admitted student to be able to attend regardless of their financial circumstances. The University views paying for education as a partnership between the University, the State of California, the federal government, the student, and their family. The types of financial assistance programs we administer include grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment. In order to receive an offer of financial aid from UCSB, a student must be admitted to UCSB in a degree-granting program. Students enrolled in courses through UCSB's Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE, formerly known as "Extension") are not eligible.

Students who receive or are expecting to receive financial aid must adhere to financial aid standards outlined in The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships’ Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
